Entrance to the Changi Prison Chapel and Prison Museum. The museum is located on Upper Changi Road East.

The museum concentrates on W.W.II prison life. It also contain replicas of the Changi Murals.

Changi Prison was originally built by the British for 600 inmates. As soon as Singapore fell civilians and military POWs were moved to Changi. They were moved to the prison itself and barracks outside the prison. Other camps and prisons on the island were also used to house prisoners. At one point in 1944 over 12,000 prisoners were moved to the Changi area. Chapels like the one below sprang up and were allowed to stay.

The museum follows the outside walls of the building. The interior of the museum opens up into a courtyard where the chapel is located.

The chapel is an authentic replica. The original Chapel has been in Canberra, Australia for many years.

Next to the Chapel is the Changi Prison Museum. It houses many items collected from the war years and from within the prison, in addition to selling some unique souvenirs. There is normally a small stock of hard to find Singapore related WWII books.
